it had to happen sooner or later. driving to work yesterday, i was on the freeway and it just wasn't giving me the top end it usually does. i'd say like 80% of the power i've been used to. when i got to work and pulled into the parking lot, it was running like crap, galloping idle all over the place. when i went out to start it in the evening, it was still running like crap and now wanted to die at stoplights. i limped it over to the park n ride and took the train home.
i don't have the time or the garage to do a lot myself, but i was looking for suggestions as to what it might be so i can talk to the mechanic. i've been pretty dilligent about valve adjustments and keeping oil in it, despite a persistent leak. the plug wires are a year old, but i didn't replace the points or plugs when i did the wires so if that's a likely solution, i've got new ones in the bus i can swap out.
thanks. |

Look at the points first then listen for a vaccum leak, a solenoid might have come unscrewed balance tube boot cracked or a welch plug come out of a vaccum drilling. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
