Does anyone know if the Thing spindle (the spindle itself) is the same as other vw spindles? I know the ball joints are bigger, what I am looking at is the spindle itself. Thanks Confused

The Thing spindle is unique. The lower ball joint goes in from the top like the upper BJ.

Yes I know. What I am asking is, is the spindle itself the same as other vw's?

The Thing spindle fits no other VW, and no other VW has a spindle that's the same.

Wink wrong the spindle it self where the bearings ride is not unique to its self a four lug type 1 drum will fit it and vise versa along with the rear drum so if you wanted you could make a 4 lug beetle into a 5lug all the way around but as far as where the balljoint goes yes it is unque . if you wanted to lower your front by 1 1/2 to 2 inch change the trailing arms and put on a type 1 spindle if you want to raise a beetle for a baja change the trailing arms and use a thing spindle

A spindle is the whole one piece forged thing that connects to the ball joints and has the brake drum on it.

Thanks, Monster Bug.
I am looking at raised spindels to get more hiegth. I want to do the raised spindle to my Thing Spindles. One company says the use the beetle spindle (just the spindle istelf) and attached to Thing spindles to get the hieght. So I just wanted to make sure that the Thing Spindle (just the spindle itself not the ball joint area) was the same. So Thank you very much.
