i got a 93 euro, it's got 157000 mi on it. it just lost the transmission (1st is pretty much gone, got 2,3,4&R) and if i can find a rebuilt, it'll cost around $1300.00. i'm looking at a 86 quantum w/ a 5-cyl, and wonder if w/ the proper mech. mods if the motor could be used in the Q. after a rebuild. any ideas ??

The quantum's engine and trans are longitudinal in their mounting. The eurovan I believe is transverse mounted. Like comparing apples to oranges. What exactly are they telling you failed? The autotrans is actually two parts. There is the automatic section that has your forward and reverse speeds and the differential section connected to the automatic section that drives the wheels and gets you down the road. There are plenty of places for failure, some expensive and some not so expensive.

thanks for the response. if i recall, the automatic section is what took a crap. the service guy was pretty cool in trying to help. almost got me another 93' with a blown head (missed it by a day) for 500 bucks. but did say it needed a newer trans. 1st gear is almost totally gone, if going downhill it will get into 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. reverse is still good to go.
