|
|
Looking for some input
The one I made for both right and left sides works Great...If I make up a batch from my Jig realistically what would they bring?
Yes I saw the one in the classified.
What is a good price that the average Joe would pay for a conversion Jig?
Thanks for your input. |

I'd pay $25-$35 for a good jig , I would like to have template for the cut out more . The jig I can make off an other car . A simple paper doll type cut out so you don't cut to much of the horn for better fit |

I like the jig. If I needed one I'd be willing to pay $80 or so for a good one. How much toe-in do you have on that car? Looks like alot but maybe it is an illusion. |

Yes Jason ran into the same problem with the first side (I have a little patch work to do there)
Lesson learned and the second side was much better.
As far as a template.....I just held up the pivot on the second side at 10 degrees, scribed a mark on the frame horn and Jason cut about 1/8" inside the line...Worked great for the initial fitting.
He then bolted the hanger in the Jig and kept clearancing till the 4 side bolts lined up.
The hole was Much improved from the first blind cutting. |

We checked the caster/camber and with the spring plate on the bottom stop we had 1 degree in at the top
The picture of the left wheel at full compression was just a quickie picture and the parts are not fully bolted tight....
Every check so far looks like the suspension will be just about straight up and I dont think these are the expensive arms. |

Here is the second side after Jason had some practice with the first.....He did all his cutting with a 4" angle grinder.

Thats what I was talking about and why I think a template is needed . I have a plasma cutter so I think if I have a guide to do this it will be easy.
I don't like to weld with that much to fill or patch . You said you just traced around the clip and cut 1/8 inside ? What did you use to fill in with 1/8 X1 in strap ? got any pictures of finished side ?
I have 2 cars I want to do , 1 is a sandrail the other is a Fiberglass buggy but both have stock swing axle torsions . |

I have some flat patch panels from other projects that are just under 1/8"
here is one Jason made....Don’t mind the puddle d up weld where I was just filling a few gaping holes he didn’t wish to make panels for. The structural integrity of the hanger is there the pretty under the car he was not concerned with.

I'm looking to buy or rent a jig very quickly if you are willing to sell one in the next week or so or lend one if you are near. It'd be better for me to rent one for 20 bucks than buy one for 80. |
