I updated the FAQ. There are over 120 topics covered in it now (about double the original version).
Enjoy.
I'll also plug my website www.ratwell.com as it's the homepage for my technical articles that go beyond the FAQ on particular topics. _________________ '78 Westfalia CDN

Bay Window Bus resources and info available on The Samba
Wiring Diagrams
Brochures/Literature
Manuals
Color & Upholstery combos, VIN Numbers, and M-Code information submissions are welcome. We don't have a Bay Window Parts Book (yet). If someone could scan the appropriate pages and email them to us, we can add them to the technical section on this site.
We are also missing Production Figures and our selection of Bay Window Manual scans are pretty sparse (Thanks to Joe Bartoli for lending us five of his manuals to scan recently).
Thank you

some important Front Beam information for shoppers and choppers.
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1262544
The 68-69 beam is a similar design to split window busses (pre-67) which uses balljoints instead of link pins but the entire beam is redesigned and does not interchange, though it shares the same frame bolt pattern through late '69. At this time the bolt pattern widened (see diagram) and in '71 the front drum brake setup was replaced with front disks and a gusset was added to accomodate a power booster. The beam remained virtually unchanged through to '79.
Current production Brazilian beams are again virtually the same, but have reverted to link pins. |

How frequent is this question asked?:
Is there anywhere that I can find production numbers specifically for the '68 SC truck like that in the dropgates.com site?
They cater for the splitwindsheild buses and have almost all production numbers but up to '67 only!
How is it that the very old buses have that info out there but not the later ones? _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

VWCadets. Next time you may want to post in the forum for a quicker response.
The color codes for many years are included in the Archives Section. For a 1970,
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/70colors.php
I do not see a sky blue color listed, so you may want to read your mcode plate.
Moderator - Can you move these last two responses to a thread of its own in the Bay Window Forum?
