how can you tell if your nose cone is damaged? i just did my mounts. the front mount was really bad. just got the car so dont know how long they were like that. put all new heavy duty german mounts in but did not inspect the nose cone. _________________ www.cultwagen.com |

if the nose cone is broken then it will possibly leak and also under acceleration it will buck and lurch. your shifting may be difficuly and erratic as well. |

So would the motor move back and fourth like it did with the broken front mount? can you tell by looking under the car? _________________ www.cultwagen.com |

I've seen a few broken ones, and its usually the square boss with the mounting holes in it. Snaps right off the nose cone body. Look for a big crack. |

did not see any big cracks and it was pretty dry so i think im good. looks to have a small leak where there is a threaded sensor (reverse light?) _________________ www.cultwagen.com |

Check to see if the holes where the studs for the tranny mount on the nose cone have ovaled. I recently changed my tranny and this mounting area had oval holes instead of perfect circles, which most likely caused the tranny to teeter and most likely cause my shifting problems since they went away when I added a midmount a couple months ago. _________________ 62 Beetle
