I saw this 67 vert also at Copperstate. It is spotless. The owner (who is a nice guy) showed me the entire car. No chips, no issues I could see at all! The only thing wrong with it was it had the wrong distributor cap. He bought it from someone who threw crazy money at it to restore it to a very high level.

My second-owner 67 now back on the road. I redid the interior (original), put an entire new 2" narrowed front end with spindles, BRM's, etc. The 20 year old paint was good but faded so I color-sanded it and rubbed it out by hand. Came out real good. I have parts on the bench for a 2110, Berg 42's, etc.

I don't think '67s had the antenna mount there.

I believe that some do!! I have a 67 vert with the antenna mounted in that exact spot. 1 owner, very original car. I will snap a pic tonight Wink Might be a vert thing or maybe a dealer installed item.

Come to think of it, you may be right. Embarassed I didn't think about the fact that the car is a vert. All bets are off if it's a vert (I'll take the decklid though!) Very Happy

Bill why would you make a comment like that? I see little snips from you on this forum and it's clear that you get a lot of satisfaction doing this. If someone notices a problem on my car, I appreciate nice tips like I get from FloridaDeluxe and other helpful (and polite people). I learn from and appreciate this.

I also believe you will find that people will more easily digest and appreciate your advice if you drop the "one-line-terse-blurbs" and sometimes smartass comments and package your knowledge in a better format. I'm sure your time is in high demand being an all-knowing VW guru but a little politeness would be nice. I for one would welcome your help and tips--but not in the 8th grade format in which you chose to dispense commentary. (I had to put up with this same crap from Alan Willis and he actually turned out to be good guy, as I'm sure you are).

Now to answer your question, no, I'm not gonna bother changing the fender. It's not a show car, it makes me happy. I like it. I even like you too. Laughing

I think you make some very valid points here Henry. There are indeed some very nice, helpful people on this site. Then there are people like Bill May who missed the "people skills 101" lesson in life. I would say 90% of Bill's posts are like the one he made to you. Clearly I am not the only one who notices Bill's useless contributions to this site.

I think your car looks great and only 1% of Americans would notice that the fender is aftermarket.

The Java Green 67 convertible a few posts back has been For Sale a couple of times on Gbay. About once a year the guy tries to sell it. Last time it got to the high teens and didn't make the reserve which was in the twenty's. The car is spot less from top to bottom.

I have a 67...recently purchased off of eBay. It was advertised as a possible Euro. How can I tell?
I have wide five wheels, but early fenders. I know these things can be changed, but what is a definate way to tell.
I'll post pics as soon as I can.....gotta figure that out too.

The only concern with this 67 vert is you can't really enjoy it. It's so spotless that you would have a melt down if you chipped the paint. The owner told me he transports it to the shows in a trailer. Don't get me wrong, I would love to own it!
