From our very own Samba:

1989 VW WESTPHALIA - EXCEPTIONAL! $14,900
This exceptional white with gray interior VW Westy camper van has been detailed and includes the following, (new as of 10/05):

A/C system, compressor, dryer, expansion valve, 134a – needs to be charged

The motor leaks oil about 1/2 quart every 1000 miles. The leak is coming from the main seal area, but it is NOT THE main seal or cam plug. The motor has been out and the main seal replaced. The problem did not change. This is a very minor leak.
The ignitor on the 3-way refer is out. It will run on 12 volt or 120 volt, but not the propane. Screen on canvas needs repair.

If it is not the rear main, then it is an oil galley plug that is about to pop out just before the big bang and then the "too late light" comes on...

Very minor leak... Laughing Laughing That add is criminal...

I like the George Orwell Doublespeak in this one. "VERY SOUGHT AFTER NO power steering set up". "NOTE: the Wolfsburg package does NOT have the kitchen so it is much more versatile with fold down table, facing seating, lots of storage (so big and roomy inside that it will easily carry a motorcycle), just set up portable stove/2-way fridge/cooler/dish-pans on the big table for inside food preparation and then cook outside (where you want to anyway) when weather permits". And of course, "a similarly equipped Westy from "Go Westy" in California will cost you more than twice as much!!!!"

yeah, that was the ad said about my van. Let's see -- Has a whole new cooling system, new front brakes, rears still need to be done, new engine, new transmission, new exhaust.. The crappy paint job, has about a million places where the bondo has cracked.

FULLY RESTORED means AFU

Just went back and rechecked this one. The buy looks to be someone who purchases every catalytic converter that comes his way. I bet he was surprised to get a worthless VW heater box.

There was a huckster on the Santa Barbara CL a while back advertising his "Porshe powered" Westy a while back. In small print he said the WBX was "based on a Porsche design" MMM hmm. riiiiight.
