pawesty reneged on a deal lost email sold to a higher offer

pawesty http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=254

Agreed to sell fuel injection parts to me for an agreed upon price.

I asked for shipping costs twice and sent a third followup email

Lost my email twice and made no effort to contact me

After sending a third email he told me that he sold the parts to a higher "bidder"

This was not an auction, we had an agreement on price. He stiffed me and sold the parts to someone else.

I have email thread if anyone is interested.

BEWARE OF SELLERS WHO RENEGE ON AGREED UPON PRICES

It doesn't make much difference now, but you told me that you agreed
to my price of $120 for what you had left and then I patiently waited
for your reply on shipping costs and sent one reminder to which you
still agreed to sell the parts to me.

How convenient that you lost my email address twice.

I should leave some bad feedback for reneging on the deal that you
agreed to. I saved all the email if anyone wants like to see it

there. got it started for you. first off, i lose emails. i also lose my car keys. shit happens. i get alot of email, i sell alot of parts. if i happen to go flying through my mail and something gets deleted i apologize. i have never received any negative feedback be it on the samba or any other air cooled vw or auction site. i would have been happy to unload the parts to you. however, thats not how it went down. instead of waiting for my response, you post a thread dragging me through the mud. not cool. but, that must be how you operate.

I would say it's pretty uncool to renege on a deal. It seems that's not below how you operate.

I see you have some of the emails I sent. There goes your excuse for losing my address.

If you're prone to losing things that should be a good warning to people who are considering buying things from you. Pray that you don't lose someone's check and then claim that you never received it.

All your ads say make an offer. I made an offer, you accepted it and then because of your own incompetence, reneged on the deal with no effort to contact me. If you can't keep your business deals straight maybe you shouldn't be making business deals.

I think that this thing was going on for maybe three weeks. Plenty of time for you to contact me and I was plenty patient in between my emails to you.

Your response to me was essentially, I sold it to someone else who gave me more $$ than I agreed to sell it to you.

Caveat emptor

not sure what you mean by "that's how i operate". i estimate that in almost 4 years, 1400 (+)posts, and many parts sales you are the first to complain. the first to post something negative about me. let the numbers speak for themselves. the emails i posted are from todays exchanges, have a great day and i hope you have great luck with your project.

I've no comment on this deal but I will say this. If you are selling stuff on TheSamba to other users on TheSamba and emails aren't getting answered then PM the user and if that doesn't work do a search for the posts the user is making in the forums and leave a message there.

There is no reason that 2 users in this forum one with nearly 2000 posts and one with nearly 300 posts can't make a damn connection. For either of you to say that you were going to rely solely on emails to solve this deal is rediculous.

Cmon guys the internet isn't rocket science. Rolling Eyes

If you want to buy parts from pawesty, don't let me stop you. I had my say, he had his, you be the judge. I've got no axe to grind except to point out that some folks can't keep their business straight.

For all you naysayers, here's the thread. I added the asterisks to separate the messages and removed my shipping address. The rest of the thread is intact and unedited. This exchange ran from 5/4 through 5/23, about 3 weeks like I claimed

It's a deal.

Parcel post 7-10 days via USPS works for me. It's probably the
cheapest, but probably requires a good pack job on your part. I'm sure
the Fi parts would do better nicely packed. I'd appreciate it.

Let me know the total and I'll make payment.

I asked what the total payment for parts and shipping would be on 5/6, 5/8 and 5/11.

You can read his last email to me on 5/23 and make up your own minds. That's the last I've got to say on this matter.

I've bought from Pawesty a couple times. Super prompt and polite. Even helped me out with some tech issues via email.

Thanks for the most recent Kombi Relay!

I hope this is the last word.

I'm sure that pawesty is a good guy, has helped some folks and sold some parts. We'll never know about the complaints unless someone takes the time to speak up.

We're all human and make mistakes, but the" s**t happens" excuse is lame especially when a potential customer initates the contact, works to come to an agreement with the seller, keeps up the contact and offers to pay the agreed price including shipping. Yeah, I'm not out any $$ but I made a good faith offer and an honest effort and didn't receive the same in return.

All of us should ask that people who are essentially in business, no maqtter how small or part time, act responsibly, conduct themselves in a business like manner and keep up with the concerns of customers and potential customers.

I've done business with Dave on more than one occasion, and never had any kind of problem.

Communication breakdowns happen when conversing through the 'net. Sorry this went down rc, but Dave is a stand up guy.

Same here. I don't know any more of the deal than what is posted here, but I really don't think Dave would intentionally stiff someone on a deal for a higher price. He's certainly not in this just to turn a buck.

rcnotes, you mentioned you offered to pay the price plus shipping; but never heard back form pawesty because he skipped/missed/deleted/etc. your email. I don't see how a deal was even made if you never got confirmation back saying it was all go. There was never a "Ok I accept your offer" from pawesty; for whatever reason. Mistakes happen, move on. Seems you're mostly mad you missed out on the parts. There are lots of folks selling used FI parts. Hell, I have a few full systems I might put up soon.

Sounds like Dave is overall an honest guy, there was no deliberate attempt to do harm, and nobody got ripped off. It's just a shame that the one time he messed up, it was on this deal. What you guys don't know is that RC was under a lot of pressure to meet a deadline, and this delay blew up his plans. So he's entitled to be pissed off. I guess the lesson is that if you really have to have it immediately, pony up with one of the commercial shops. In casual deals between fellow hobbyists, shit does indeed happen.
