Here are some photos of the construction of the type3 inner cooling fan, thought I'd share them with you guys.
Outer support plate + hardened shim + rivet/spacers (10 mm high)
Hub + rubber mounts

Great! I had a problem with my Type 3's cooling fan before. But I already had it fixed. The problem we discovered was that the shim between the cooling fun and pulley was missing.  _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

They are rather easy to find most of the time. Any time I've had a bad one, I just scrap it and buy another one.
If you want to rebuild it, MackayManx's brief walkthrough should do it. |

living here in south mississippi where all there is is super beetles its kind of hard to find good parts for a type 3 ive found 2 but seeing as the one i pulled off the car is making noise i figured i might as well experiment and see what i can do so far ive drilled out the rivets/spacers to accept a bolt and made bushings out of two different size fuel lines. just finished putting it together and so far so good bushings need a lil tweaking but its solid like i imagine a new one would be!! i will be installing it tomorrow evening to test it
i will be posting my findings when all the tests are done |
