I've been busy lately and haven't posted much, but I have been slowly adding to my collection of Vanagon brochures. I figured I'd concentrate on aircooled Vanagons since they were made for only three years and most people don't care much about them. Given these two things I hope I can amass a good collection without getting crazy with costs, so far it's working and it's fun. Eventually I'll scan them and put them up on the web for everyone to enjoy.
Anyways I just got a fold out poster that I had never seen before.
Me and the wife have been laughing at the un-PC things from the early 80's (like the picture of the very young girl riding in the front seat).
Here it is:

I did this same thing, only on Type 181's (Thing). I've collected quite a few posters on them, both from Germany and the states.
Next time I'm in Germany, I'll keep an eye out for some air cooled Vanagon adversements for you. _________________ Current VW drives: 1984 Westfalia

That is the coolest poster I have ever seein in my whole life. I would gladly kill someone for it. That's how cool it is! |
Actually, killing someone these days is not politically correct, even for a cool vw poster.
btw.... I've just come across an '83 westy brochure, and on the front of it, they (vw) called it "The porsche 911 of vans". (hehehe) Took pictures of it, but I'm so far unable to post them here, cause I just recently switched to a Mac laptop, and can't figure out how the *&*^&^&T^# um, heck....to resize the pics...

Cool, thanks
I'd like to get back to Germany one day too, but not in the forseeable future.
Tell me if you're coming back to Dallas, I feel bad we missed each other last time. |

iphoto: file: export, change format to jpeg, then scale images to whatever size for web purposes.
Then go get photoshop! _________________ 89 Syncro GL Westfalia 2.1 WBX/WBXaustSS

I like some of thier artist drawings. There are some subtle differences from concept to reality. Look at this cut away drawing of a Westy. I like the mystery tank under the door. The rear heater is also in a different spot.
