i have a 74 bus 1800cc type 4 stock except for the dual weber 34's i have a stock vacuum distributor with the retard and advance ports on the vacuum canistor my question is where do each of them mount on the carbs any help would be great i am moving and need my bus up and running for a 1800 mile trip. thanks |

You should see a stem coming out of the left side of both carbs. It should have a black or red plug over it if it isnt being used. Just take a T connector and tap into the carbs and then join it to your distributor. Make sure the dizzy works with the vacuum. Wavepimp pointed out a good tip to me: suck on the hose before you attach it to the carbs. That showed me that mine was broken. I don't know about your vacuum connections at the Webers, but please note that your retard side of the distributor should not be hooked up.
That means, do not time it to factory specs either. I recommend the timing be set with the centrifugal *only* to about 28* at 3,000 rpm.
Your vacuum advance should only provide additional advance on overrun and partial throttle. I'd ( and I'm a little different ) get a long hose to check my vacuum gauge out on the road. You do not want a vacuum signal at full throttle. Other opinions welcome, my smokes may have been tampered with.
