Hi ,

I just got a steering wheel lock for my 55.
It came with keys

THe problem is the key(s) will not turn the lock, whether I push the button or not.

I can't imagine the lock will only turn after the wires are hooked up to the back, the wiring is strictly for starting the car, not allowing the key to turn also, correct?

Is there some sort of sequence to do to turn the lock?!

Iwill be rather upset to say the least Evil or Very Mad if the guy on ebay sold me one that did not work without mentioning it.

Thanks!!!

Matt

The button is there to remove the key. If simply inserting the key doesn't line up the tumblers/wafers, then it's probbly not the right key.

Yea, that is what I was thinking, this is ridiculous, I think I got taken by this guy. What the crap? he advertised

vw volkswagen restored oval steering colum lock w/keys. it was restored

AM I supposed to be asking stupid questions like does the lock work with the keys? when it was RESTORED?

It would be like me selling a car radio, saying completly overhauled, -& when the buyer pays for it, I send it to him and say
sorry buddy, that it only plays one station, you should have asked if it plays more than one.

Some things should naturally be taken for granted, out of general courtesy to others. I would NEVER do that to someone

Thanks, sorry for the ramble

Matt

Get in touch with Gabriel (Allen, Texas) He has the proper key blanks for that lock. If you can get him the key code, he can also cut it for you.

I have found that a lot of people feel that it is the buyers responsibility to ask all of the right questions.

I have learned that the hard way several times. It is a good idea to ask even what you think are the dumbest questions and ask for better pictures.

From the picture it looks like it was "repainted" not "restored"

Lots of people think that knocking the dirt off and applying a fresh coat of paint is performing a restoration.

Contact the guy, maybe he sent you the wrong keys.

From what everyone has said, Gabriel is the man to go to on these things, of course you did not buy it with the thought of having to pay someone else to make your keys.
