|
|
I've got an ancient, blackened armrest that I'd like to convert to Mesh Platinum color. This is the armrest that actually attaches to my middle seat (not the armrest that attaches to the panels/frame). I tried to get an upholstery shop to cover it, but the upholstery (TMI) is a bit too thick and the shop owner thought it wouldn't stretch out enough for him to do a decent job. Has anyone found a vinyl paint that might come close to Mesh Platinum? Or does anyone have any other ideas as to how I can make the armrest look decent. To the best of my knowledge, there are no aftermarket replacements. |

Everett, I was referring to the armrest that actually mounts to the middle seat (I've already got some of those mesh plat repops that mount to the panels...not bad....at first I thought they were cut a little poorly, but when I looked at 4 OGs, they weren't cut any better).
I actually have some of the SEM paint in my hand, but couldn't find a really good match. I may just have to settle. Interesting to know they have 300 colors as the interior shop I went to showed me charts for only about 30 colors. |

Turns out there are really only about thirty colors. I anguished about which was the closest match (there were about 4 colors that one could argue about), finally settling on a Lexus Cream Ivory from the "vintage" series (which mostly covers Chevy's and Fords)...at $14 a can, I wanted to get the best match. Bottom line is that the Lexus color is NOT a good match.....looks kind of like baby poop once it's sprayed on. Next route was to try to find someone to color match in vinyl.....maybe in the big city for a huge amount of $$$, but not here in Eugene. Guess I'll have to live for awhile with baby poop Lexus until I stumble upon that old barn full of new OG armrests...it does beat blacked aero papyrus at least. |

Hey, no prob. The company probably does make 300 colors, but only 30 or so in vinyl compatible. |
