I came across this zebra skin for an excellent price. It is only missing the tail. It has the full face with ears and mane. It's got a couple of spots that the hair is worn down, but overall it's in pretty good condition. I want to use it to make an accessory for the Thing, but I'm not sure what. I'm open to suggestions.

cargo area cover? floor mats? bikini top? trunk liner? spare tire cover?

Hood cover.

I wonder how many Things have been used as a hunting vehicles.

I wonder how many Things are in Africa. The Zebra theme is common for car seats and body paint.

Stuff it and use it while in the carpool-only lane.

Great idea! But wear it only when driving.
Then it'll be a "Thing thong".

Im gonna assume your kidding so here is my suggestion,

I say mount the head on the hood use rest for seat bottoms and I'll donate 2 baby Elephant seals for mud flaps and I will even throw in an Albatross for rear view mirror embellishment . than you can drive the whole thing over to your next local animal activist meeting. Ian's Tiger thing will look good parked next to it. Laughing

If thats too passive aggressive for you try driving it to your local watering hole , chicks dig VW Things with dead animals hanging off of them.

Nope. It was used as a rug. It's in the garage waiting for the right idea to come along. Right now I'm thinking it would make a good trunk liner. Problem there is that it will only be seen when I pop the trunk. But I could leave it there permanently. If I make a hood cover or bra, I wouldn't keep it on there all the time.

I'm probably going to give the skin from the head to a buddy at work. He wants to glue it to his wife's motorcycle helmet. His helmet has a skunk skin glued to it. (I'm not kidding about this either)

I've decided on making a hood cover. Here are some pics with the skin folded and sitting on the hood. Next step: scissors.

Seat covers would be cool too. I saw a Land Rover Defender (the rag top version) with wicked cool pelt seat covers. The owner did them himself and it looked great.

Mind you, the Veggie freaks in this town would do just that, freak.

Cie la vie.

Almost finished. Just got a little stitching to do. The wrinkles should come out in a few days.

Hope you disinfected that thing thoroughly before working with it. I can't think of many, ermmm... "noble" uses for a zebra-skin rug. Shocked Wink
