I got a pretty spot on match for the platinum with Dupli-Color Light Driftwood Metallic (DSGM457). $4.99 a can at Autozone. Here's the rub:
It's not a vinyl paint. Since I'm only doing one armrest, the rubber that goes around my drink tray and the rubber in the footwells for the middle seat passengers, I'm going to apply to all three and see how it works. Since no one ever rides in the back of my bus and therefore never touches those areas, I'm hoping it might work. So far it has adhered well to the armrest. I've posted a picture in the gallery titled "Platinum Paint".
