I was trying to put a sparkplug in my engine, and found a mouse house that I had missed. I can feel it with my fingers but can't pull it out. Even if I could grab it with something I think I should check and see that they are not where I cant feel or see them. If I got this thing going only to overheat it and fry it, I would be bummed. What is the best way to expose the cylinders to check for mouse housing? Will all the engine tin just come off with a standard screwdriver (and maybe a wrench or two) or does the motor come out? I am more familiar with the upright cooling tin type 1 engine.

Remove the intake stuff (FI or carbs) and pull the cylinder tin, very easy to do.

A cordless impact driver with a hardened #3 phillips bit works best. If you don't have one, buy one. They are a must have tool for those of us working on 30+ year old vehicles.

If your engine hasn't been stripped down in a long time, or has lots of rust growing on it, use liberal amounts of PB blaster on the screws starting the day before you try to remove them. Try to get a vice grip on the head of the screw if you strip the drive slot.
