Jerome was PACKED, it appeared to be the best turn-out in years. I was one of the last 3 when Magoo put us down, couldn't of gone to a better team (The Jess's). Drive home wasn't bad. Thanks for lowered buses. Steve and I drove home at 68 mph, winds didn't affect us and we got better mpg coming home then going. 5 hours to get there 3 1/2 to get home.
Weather was almost perfect (would of liked soe cooler weather, it was frigging HOT.
Missed you RINC, thanks for the A M coffee Skate

jerome was an interesting mix of the good, the bad, the ugly and the funny.
the good:
-due to our huge turnout, and your generous wallets, we raised $6000 dollars more then last year, a new record by the club! apparently you guys really wanted that bus. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! our charities will be appreciative.
-though not a record turnout, it was the highest concentration of VW's in about 8-10 years. since i joined the club, we have been averaging about 225 vehicles. this year we were well over 350 with many new faces. the VW's were packed in tight but I heard no complaints. thank you for your tolerance. the general consensus seems to be everyone had a great time. i am glad to hear that.
-my personal highlights were winning the slow drags, but only because big bus mike didn't participate this year . see you in havasu! performing for you guys was a blast! we had a huge crowd that stuck around for two hours. thank you for allowing us the chance to entertain you. lastly, getting all of my buses up there and my dog surviving the weekend.
the bad:
-getting rear ended by my own bus before the caravan even started. anyone have a single Hella fog light they would like to sell me? my cargo door handle snapping off and a broken stove from the wind blowing it off.
-the raffle bus breaking down 3 times on the way up. after swapping out the coil and dizzy, i deduced we were not getting fuel and an empty fuel bowl proved me right. replacing the filter fixed the issue and we were on our way.
-not getting any sleep the entire weekend. you guys make us work our asses off
-and what would jerome be without the dust and the heat. a little rain would have been nice.
the ugly:
-the potent mixture of booze and testosterone. spending more time then necessary enforcing our quiet time rules. hippies having pickle thrown at them. and having to deal with fights & skirmishes. fortunately, these were mostly isolated incidences that did not affect the success of the show.
the funny consists of an uncorroborated story about some kid who was accosted by a group of drunks around 4am sunday morning. in an attempt to get them to stop, he told the group he was part of the staff which not only worked, but he managed to kick them out of the event as well. if this story is true, then that has to be the funniest thing i have ever heard at a jerome show.
all in all, jerome was a huge success and we look forward to seeing all you again next year. _________________ 59 DD panel. Former Romano's TV delivery bus

Just got back to Tucson after another excellent Jerome Jamboree
Was it just me, or was it hotter than usual this year (especially on Friday afternoon)?
Having Uncle Jerry and Magoo win the raffle bus is way cool . Not many people have put as much of themselves into the Arizona Bus Club and the Jerome Jamboree as UJ, and he definitely deserves it.
Definitely looking forward to next year! By the way.....what was with that announcement I heard about Phelps Dodge maybe doing something with the Gold King Mine and the ABC possibly having to look for another site a couple of years down the road? I though Don owned the Gold King Mine outright. Does P-D still have mining rights or something? If anyone knows anything, let us know...... |

I was at the Treffen, but at my first Jerome I remember walking around with a sign that read "Will work for ICE!!!"
Some were doing almost hourly ice runs since it was melting so fast! _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

Wow.. what a crazy weekend. Let me tell you guys that this was my first Jarome and it was the best time I've had in a while. The wife and I left Canyon Country California wed and went to suprise to hang out with Pete from airkewld, then met up with the caravan friday. After Jerome some of the VTO guys let us tag along to the grand canyon and then home. We must have put 1000 miles on my bus in less than a week. I just got home and looked at pic's and videos. I wanna thank a few people for putting up with me, first of all Truckersmike... thanks for putting on a great show, and helping us meet up with y-all for the caravan. Your band rocks too. Thanks again to the VTO crew that let us tag along with them for a couple of days after Jerome, I have mad love for Stan, Pearl, Ruben, Ruby, Bob and mona. You guys rock. VTO RULES!!!!! Last but not least I wanna thank my kick ass wife. Bridgette.. Thanks for telling me just to GO. Thanks for being my co-pilot, photographer and best friend.
Long story short. I wanna thank everyone involved this will be one of the great memories I will talk about for a long time. Love you all...
Oh and SEE YOU ALL NEXT YEAR!!!!!! _________________ ~~~~~~> LEE <~~~~~~
