I just picked up a 78 westy in great condition about 4 months ago - I've already put 6000+ miles on it, and decided it would be a great addition to have a sunroof put in. The problem is that the area over the cab is the molded plastic storage bin that connects to the rest of the pop-top... has anyone heard of a kit that closes off the end of the pop top and allows a sunroof to be put in?

| You may have trouble finding a glass pop-up type sunroof that will fit the curve of the van's roof... but, if you do find one, the easiest solution, if you don't want the roof top storage, is to "section" the storage tray. take it off, and cut the middle section (the recessed part) out, and attach the very front section to the very rear section of the bin, with screws driven through the fiberglass into wood stringers on the inside. fiberglass it and fill it, and you have a shortened panel to dress the front of your pop-top. |
