Any photos of cut wells are welcome here. If they're flared, even better. I have recently aquired a '65 deluxe with this fantastic custom feature, and have developed a sick fear fascination with butchered wheel wells. I wonder who has the oldest photo of a bus with cut wells.... (No Neil & Lind, I have not lost my mind. It's going to the body guy in three weeks to fix the butchering) The link below is the cancelled Egay auction for my new bus....

Nice. Bring it on. Actually, a vintage photo of someone actually cutting out wells would be hot.

the thing that I think is ironic is when people fix wheel wells and lower their bus. lowered buses would be much easier for their drivers with hacked out wheel wells. (don't get me wrong, I would not recommend either lowering or hacking wheel wells. but if your bus already has cut wheel wells and you are lowering it, you might consider not fixing them until you get the good sense to raise it back up)

as for my contribution to this topic, we have my '62 doublecab. this one had the wheel wells cut just enough that you can put the tire straight on instead of slightly angling it inside the wheel well. they certainly put more effort into cutting the wheel wells than will ever be saved during tire instalation.

Good God! That bus is just so wrong on so many levels.

It is hard to imagine that people actually thought that was cool back in the day.
Chazwood still thinks it's cool now, with the shiny paint and all Smile .
Tubbers - you paying attention to how what's considered cool one day is monstrously hideous when tastes change?

And tires! I've always said that cut wheelwells look like ass unless they are properly filled with huge phat tires! Razz

Even this following example calls for at least 12 inch wide hotrod type tires! Cool

This is a great thread, but we have to be careful that the youth movement is not watching and listening to us and thinking that 70's bus porn is the new 2000's.
