My 73' Thing, slightly (*sarcasm*) improved from two years ago. It wasn't this nice when I bought it. Many hundreds of the improvements are out of sight though. I had to make it safe to drive, my poor neglected Thing.

Hi, I just got my 71 Thing and am in the process of making it mine. It had a 1600dp and now has a 1914 with the same weber progressive, but am gonna get some dual weber 44's or 48's. It had bus reduction gears and am in the process of getting a superstreet with freeway flyer from kcrtrans.com so I can get down the highway if needed. This is gonna be my only car so I need highway use. I know I'm double working myself, but I can only do things to her as I get the money and free time. I plan on pulling the body off for a sandblaasting and paintjob. Then I'll be working on the suspension. Here's some pic's in progress.

Let's see....Das Dundarkuebel (aka "Thunderbucket"):
It's a '73. No, really. Seriously: I added the "wader boxes" and moved the mirrors.

Here's my '74. It's been in the family since new, and has been mine since 1994. It's back on the road legally as of today, after a few years of dormancy on the paperwork front. I took this photo for the insurance company, and am posting it honor of it's well-earned legal legitimacy...

Here is a picture of our thing. We love it.
It looks more rusty then it really is because rust was painted on at the movie studio.

Nice! I loved that movie -- Adam Sandler aside, my wife and I fell in love in Hawaii, and we went on most of our dates in my orange, rust bucket Thing. During that summer, she learned to drive a stick shift with that car.
I wonder if Drew Barrymore had to learn to drive a stick in a Thing as well... _________________ VW-181 shirts and stickers.
