My '72 bug is using a dry air cleaner (paper filter) with temperature and vacuum control, but the hoses are missing or are not well connected.
1) Where should I connect the pre-heating pipe ? I know it's related to the exhaust system, but I don't know where.
2) I read that a hose has to be connected between the intake manifold (just below the carburator) and the temperature sensing valve (which is attched to the air cleaner). But I can't find any place where to plug this hose on the intake manifold.
Thanks in advance for your help on that,
Phil. |

I did some investigations and finally, I think I have the answers to my questions:
1) The pre-heating pipe has to be connected to the "stove pipe" - official name is warm air pipe - located under the tin. I found the part in a junk yard.
2) There is a nipple on the left dual-port manifold end, in order to connect the hose which goes to the air cleaner temperature sensing valve (left nipple of it).
I plan to use a vacuum gauge. Any idea of how to use it ? |
