PostPosted: Tue Oct 23, 2007 2:05 pm    Post subject: Orange plaid fabric? Reply with quote

I did search, so if I missed it, so solly challie.

I am interested in the orange plaid from the mid 70's Westy, as pictured below (photo jacked from the Gallery):

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I checked gowesty and Wolfsburg, but nothing is close. Do I take that to mean it is no longer available? I have ads up looking for an orange plaid westy bed and front plaid seats both of which I would like to use in my bus.

I guess my question is, is there anywhere that has re-poped this fabric, or seatcovers in such, or is used the only way I'll find it?

Thanks for any info.

Is this what you're looking for:

http://www.busdepot.com/details.jsp?partnumber=FABRIC2

The picture makes it look more yellow, but I think that's just the picture.

I had not been to either of those, but no dice. The fabric Bus Depot has is the later year yellow/orange.

Thanks though. Very Happy

Only used for 2 years and it is ugly! Especially the matching vinyl.

i've got that same color in mine and from what i understand that one isn't made anymore. it is pretty hideous, but no more than that ugly ass yellow brown orange combo. put up a want ad somewhere. it usually pops up but for a hefty price.

or just use it as an excuse to get real creative with your interior.
our bus is tricked out in psychadelic swirlies now.

the orange is a wonderful color! to bad they didn't make it for the 76-79 buses, so I have settled on the chrome yellow aka mac"n"cheese

Guess I will have to get creative. I just thought that if I could find that fabric, then it would look kinda cool matching the Zbed in the back.

Hmm...

So if the orange was for 74/75, what years was the green for? I've always wondered?

Green/Yellow - 76-79
Brown/Green - 78-79
Blue/Green - 74/75 and some later models.

I was able to carefully remove my green/yellow fabric off the rear bench and upper bed and wash them twice using the delicate cycle. It's amazing how clean I was able to get them. Fortunately they were not ripped or town anywhere. I did use the repo fabric to recover the front seats though. Perhaps some gentle removing and washing is in order?

My '74 Westy has the blue/green plaid, was it just an option, either blue/green or orange, or was it something with deluxe vs. not?

The color of the plaid depended on the color of the Westy.

Go here: http://john-perry.com/vw/plaid.html and READ about it.
