id say leave that one alone and find another that has been wreaked in the front or rear with significant apron damage that way it wont be so bad to have to cut them off.

or one thing ive considered when i get around to building mine is find a baja or baja project where alot of the cutting has already been done. there are lots of those out there.

I believe this is a "Volksrod". Lots of cutting involved- start with a rougher car.

You have a nice looking early car. If it's beauty is more then just skin deep, leave it alone and find something on it's way to the bone yard to axe on.

If you make a mess of something that's already a mess, you will of had fun and not lost much. But if you make a mess of your ride, you'll be sorry for ever.

There are plenty of cheap, free cars out there just waiting for you to drop the axe on them. Don't cut up a good one!

Go to volksrods.com . Post an intro. Do your homework. Buy a piece of crap and cut on it. OR trade that for one. There might be someone over there that is ready to move theirs for the next project. I would not cut on one that nice. Why not go for a 1950's leadsled look? Skirts, peeps, shaved, decked, flat color, Moon Disc wheels. Be cool, BTW, I am black_rat_bug over there.

IF I CAN FIND A RAG TOP THAT IS CHEAP I WOULD BUY THAT AND CUT THAT ONE UP. I'M PUTTING A NEW MOTOR IN MINE RIGHT NOW. ONCE IT IS BACK TOGETHER I WOULD MAKE A DEAL WITH SOMEBODY THAT WANTS MY CAR. I'M RUNNING OUT OF ROOM AND NEED TO SELL SOME OF MY VEHICLES.

CULLYUNO, any word on the progress of the new race track over there in Vineland?

Try looking on Craigs list. Look in the "free" section too. A lot of times there are cars on there that you just need to go pick up.

On E-Bay, go to the Parts section and look in "parts cars". There's a few VW's in there now for little bucks.

If you are doing a true volksrod without fenders, an IRS rear works better then a swing axle. A swing axle looks cool lowered with a lot of negative camber when the tires are under fenders, but take the fenders off and it just looks broken. And if you want to raise it in the rear, a swing axle just looks silly that way

An IRS rear keeps things standing straight even when it's been dropped or raised.

You have a nice early rag top, keep it that way and find a junker to save from the crusher!
