Saw this in the Nice Deals thread.
Got me thinking... The TDI and Tiptronic in the Audi is obviously front engine/front wheel drive. How did they manage to turn the whole thing around and get it spinning the wheels in the right direction? Can you just flip some gears inside the automatic to make it turn the opposite direction?
I know I've seen a Porsche motor/tiptronic van video on youtube before, but thats a bit easier to understand as it was originally rear/rear. |

The auto trans part output shaft and the differntial shaft are connected via three gears. These are under a cover on the end of the trans. Remove the three gears and use two gears with the same ratio: Viola, the diff spins backwards. Thatīs all. Two gears and a new cover. The idea is not new, but from ZF. They use the same auto trans type in Audis and Porsche 996s."

wunderbah! that is the solution theory for the 42LE too regarding syncros, with of course, the pto shaft for frontewheelendrivenisch.
