You are overlooking the fact that those shells are missing their quarter windows. The quarter panel is a one piece stamping. There is also an inner stamping but the outer part is one piece.

Chris, please don't feed the troll. |
Show me quarter windows on a split. ( Zwitter wind wings don't count)
Actually, I first saw that picture on a small lap-top. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

These were given to me by a co-worker. It's a family friend picking up a brand new '56 cabrio at the factory. Sorry it's Oval-era.

Some photos from the Netherlands:
A hospital in my hometown Enschede:
A parts beetle in the streets:
A dutch army beetle, probably a very early beetle:
A series of beetles for a rally:
The first beetle in this picture belongs to a toothpaste firm, note the closed rear side windows:
"
Doesn't this look good?:
Somewhere in France.
Sorry for the bad quality...
The first picture came from a book about my hometown. The rest of the pictures come form a book called "De VW in Nederland" (The VW in the Netherlands). It's a really great book with nice pictures, ISBN 90389 03235 / CIP. But it is in Dutch....
