So here she is. The interior is immaculate, i was really suprised. The outside needs a little love called "paint", but theres basically no rust, more critically, the sheetmetal by the galley was cancer-free. theres no power steering either, not really a drawback tho. The top and tent were in great shape, went up and down easily.

I couldnt tell if the stove etc worked, i think the aux battery was dead or missing.

The trans is brand new, the thing that concerns me is when its in park, the trans whistles. What does this mean? It shifts and drives very smoothly, and the engine purrs. But, it has been over heated, and apparently one head is cracked. Perhaps a suby 2.2 or a wbx rebuild is in order.

I really want to get this, i dont know jack tho about the auto-boxes. School me, oh wise ones!

I had a 71 Bay window with an auto when I was a kid, back in '85. The auto was a 3 speed, so was a bit slower to get up to speed. Other than that, it worked fine, and I beat the holy heck outta that thing.

Best,

Lanval

My 88 westy auto tranny also whistles/whines in park and reverse and neutral when cold. Once it warms up, no whinning/whistling. and it works perfectly. Fluids all changed as well as the cooler. Can't explain it, just a bit annoying but otherwise works great. I was thinking perhaps I need to swap out the valve body!
