Hey guys,

I've got some kind of fog lamp switch that I pulled from a junkyard Bus. The Bus appeared to be equipped with Fog lamps and I'm thinknig I'd like to add a set to my Bus.

If at all possible, would you guys mind posting pictures of 72+ VW Busses with fog lamps installed on the front bumper? My bumper has two holes in the bumper which I assume I can use for mounting. I figured I'll just flip the bumper the other way and use those holes to mount the fog lamps.

Anyone else done this?

I'm looking for something period correct, and hoping to get some ideas.

Thanks guys!!!

This is LiveonJG's bus. I think his lights are driving lights though. I'm going to use lights something like his on my bus. John I love your bus. I don't see enough pics of it. Cool Congrats.

Thanks Geno!

82- T/A, the holes you are talking about are there for drainage. Drill new holes for the lights.

Mine are independently fused. I never add additional devices to existing circuits. Current wise, you'll need to run through a relay controlled by your switch.

Pretty easy actually, you can pull power from the bottom of your fuse panel. Look for an unused spade connector. This requires unscrewing the panel and twisting it around. Mine had enough slack to do this, I hope yours does too. Oh, probably should have mentioned this before, disconnect your battery first, especially if this is an early foray into wiring for you. Install your fuse close to fuse panel. Mount your relay, run the control leads to your switch and the power lead on to your lights. The entire project took me about 2 hours. Time well spent as the additional lights work really well on a rural road.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need more info.

Good info, what type and brand of relay? Also what is the power of your lights, what with all the stuff out today, I know it would be easy to overpower(drain) the system, thanks so much .

They are Hella 500 driving lights.
I got this kit on ebay. Everything you need is in it, including wiring digrams. I didn't like the supplied switch so I found a dome light switch from an early bay to use instead.

Some info on covers can be found here.

These are mine, they are fog lights (Hella 500) and are set up on a relay with the power off of the fuse box. The relay is switched off of the low beams so the fog lights come on automatically on low beam and turn off automatically on high beam. There is however a switch (Porsche 914 fog light switch) to control them. Here is a pic...

And the complete dash…

It works nice and the switch looks period...
