Well, I made the mistake of pulling everything out and not marking anything, and I just got the pan back completely powdercoated and ready to reinstall these but not sure where to start.  Any help? |

| finally got back to this thread this is what mine looks like after two splines i marked both sides before removing and fortunatly everything went smoothly and love the stance in the rear |

hey so i just watched this video. now how similar is it for a swingaxle? is one outer spline still about two inches? and once it is already lowered, i dont have to worry about the spring plate breaking my arm right? a guy came and delivered a pizza to my house and i guess his finger got taken off by a spring plate shooting down. i dont want to do both sides and lower the car and have the back end be lower than the front. i only got adjustable beam on my ride, no drop spindles.

So I finally got the courage and lowered the rear. i just went down one outer notch because i'm running 205/60's and I like the big/little look. It was super easy, this thread helped alot. Gras!

| Thanks a lot for all of the helpful links! It was pretty much straight forward and I would highly recommend getting an angle finder for $10 at Home Depot, makes the jobs a whole lot easier, especially if adjusting both outer and inner splines. |

| when i lowered mine i used a flat tip screw driver and scratched where the springplate hung with the tires off the ground, then pulled the plate off. when i put it back on i watched the scratch i made while i slowly put it on. i only went until i felt the torsion bar barely into the splines. when's it's barely in you can turn the spring plate and feel the torsion bar catching on the teeth. start where it was originally and feel the teeth as you turn it. greasing the splines helps it move alot better. 2 inside notches with the stiff KYB shocks was very nice. |

for 2 notches, wopuld anyone of you guys recommend doing this with the spring plate extenders, or is it better to leave it, just want to see before i lower it so i can do it right, before f***ing it up you know |

The lower you go, the more toe-in you will see at the rear. Extenders will reduce the toe. |

oh ok cool thank you. do these extenders have to be made or can you buy them? also if they have to be made is there a basic way of figureing out how long you should make them? |

I will be raising the rear of my bug soon and I was wondering if anyone had more/better luck with using the torsion bar adjusting tool? I have seen them on the Cip1.com website and other sites and mags. I don't want to take my hand off but I don't want to waste money on a useless tool. Any thoughts on the matter?

Heres another option instead of adjusting the spring plate on the torsion bar. NOK's drop extentions. Easy install and a great stance, about 2.75 inch drop.

| Damn that's wild. Never even thought of that working. I wonder if it changes the geometry of it at all, or the ride quality? Gotta get some feedback on these things. |

i need your opinions on this.. I have read through this post allot now and have searched some on this site for information.. But I still have aome questions..
I was thinking of buying the 1" rasie kit for th etransaxle and then setting the car down 2 clicks..
Do you think the 1" raise will help fix some of the negative camber? I for one do not care for the sqaushed look and would like to get the car back to a pretty normal tire angle...
The car is apart right now so this is the time to do the tranny raise if it would help a good bit to get it straighten out..
Opinions please..
