Hey Skim, how's the scene out there in Texas. The wife and I might have to re-locate out there for her job. I'd like some input from another VW guy on what it's like out there. Thanks

Wow, how do you get them out?!?[/quote]
Leave them in neutral, and the E brake off, just pull on the bumper. |

I have a funny story about a 67 Bug. I was born in Cumberland Maryland, my Mom and Dad decided to by a new 67 Bug. We went to the local VW dealership and looked around. They decided on a red one. It had black interior. My Dad tells the salesman, every car I've owned has had a black interior, I don't want another one. The salesman tells him that's what comes in a red car. My Dad says that blue one, (dark blue) has a white interior, change them. The salesman says i can't do that. Dad says then no sale, and walks. The salesman calls the next day and says come get your car, it has a white interior. We go to the dealership and there's the red car with the white interior. Parked next to it is the dark blue car with the black interior. I still get a chuckle when I think about that. Sadly, when we moved to Calif. in 69, they sold the VW, and kept the 67 GTO. It would pull a trailor. It had a 389, 3 2's, and a 4spd. Oh yea the interior was black. I wish I had the VW today. The GTO was stolen in 71 from Southland shopping center in Hayward, where my Mom worked. Dean |
I think this may have happened a lot more than we think.
A friend of mine has a black '67 with black interior. He swears it came
off of the dealer lot that way. There was probably a red car with a red
interior sitting right next to it.... lol |

Before anyone goes nuts... this rig was in rough shape to start with and fit the bill for a Volksrod project. And Yes... the pan in strengthend with a heavy 2x2 frame full length inside the heater channels and inside the tunnel. 8 inch chopped windshield and 8 inch beam extension. Still a work in progress.
Thanks for looking,
Rob |

I second that. When I drove my 67 around Houston people looked at me like I just arrived from Neptune. And buying parts there was worse. Luckily my wife works for the airlines so I fly for free and can go to California to get what I need. And thank goodness for aircooled.net and wolfsburg west. _________________ 1967 Bug (Second owner) |

Hey Henry, the wife and I decided not to move to Texas after all. She works for the airlines to. We just got back from going to Maui for Christmas, on United of course. I'm still out in shitty Colorado. If it weren't for CIP1.com, I'd be screwed. Can't wait to move back to Cali.

The Bug Project...
My Euro-import '67 sunroof.
Almost finished an IRS conversion with some other, Erm, 'tricks' underneath.
It was scrapped for a large part of it's life before the PO got hold of it, and 'blinged' the crap out of it with cheap Shit to hide the rust and problems. It's so far from OG that I'm not even going to try...hence the Purist in me leaving it to be a custom.
3-bar horn grilles, US-spec taillights, and a roofrack are visible since these photos were taken.
Long way to go.
