My 36hp needs freshing up before adding a Judson. Does anyone know if 40hp pistons/cyls will work in a 36hp case?? After looking at specs for both, I noted that 36hp & 40hp pistons have the same dimensions (77.0mm) and the stroke of the crankshaft is the same also. The only difference I noted was the compression (6.1-36hp and 6.6-40hp). I do not have a 40hp piston to measure but I guess the difference would be the measure between the crown of the piston and the top of the wrist pin with the 40hp piston being longer adding the difference in compression??? Any thoughts??? Also, 40hp pistons are about half the cost of 36hp pistons. |

I believe the head bolt spacing is different. _________________ Rick

40 hp piston pins are larger diameter I believe. _________________ Chris

Talk to matt at aircooledresearch.com. He is building 36 hp engines. Has performance cams, stroked cranks etc. There is a great sticky in this forum on this subject. |
