Does anyone know for sure if the rear hinges from a '74 westfalia poptop are identical to 75-up? I know there are a few differences to the front latches on a '74, not sure about the back.

The 74 poptop hinge is not as well designed as the 75-up.

On the 74 Westfalia, the hinge geometry and basic design is the same as my 78 Westfalia. The difference is that the later hinges have a rolled edge that makes them much stronger. The 74 hinge roller slots tend to deform along the upper edge from upward stresses related to the opening of the top. The later hinges get much more structural strength in the that part of the metal from the 90 degree angle in that bar.

If you are looking at replacing your hinges, I would use a later hinge rather than a 74 given a choice.
