I can really visualize a long haired hippy type driving this thing in the '70ies and getting his hair sucked into that blower....

Don't know if this is a repost, but I came across this big-bug in Greece this summer:

As aesthetically un-pleasing as that thing is, at least it looks to be well constructed with a lot of attention to detail. In my book that's at least better than the slapped together bondo turds with spray paint...
and since it looks to be a super-fattie, then really, no big loss...

Any history or more info on it floating around anywhere?

Rolling Eyes "Fixing" posts is for the Rants. Don't change my words based on you getting your panties in a wad because someone cut up a Bay Bus. If anything "sucks" it is your grammar and diction.

I am not sure who built it.

I know that I will be forsaking one of my favorite things here (net anonymity), but Chuck Mathis was my step dad for several years. I am pretty sure he painted this bug. I guess that might have been a cool paint job in the 80's? His paint schemes tend to be retro but of a pretty good quality.

I got these pictures from my mom last night. They toured the show car circuit with this bug and a radical custom 65 Chevy Impala built by Harry Bradley. As a matter of fact, it was this one (but it was painted white by Chuck): (http://images5.fotki.com/v80/photos/2/223020/1033737/P6161542-vi.jpg?1087451474)

They sold the bug to some guy in Texas while they were there. I remember being upset about it...but other cars came along.

Now that I have a convertible bug, my interest in this car has been rekindled even though I have not seen it since the early 80's. I posted elsewhere that I'd love to know its whereabouts.
