|
|
I need to fix my brakes so I can sell my coconut wheel Thing. It is posted on TheSamba, but I don't want to try and sell it locally with patchy brakes. When I push the brakes, they work about half the time. Sometimes to the floor, sometimes they work. More recently, they have been spongy and harder to get to work. I have attempted to bleed them to get the air out, doesn't seem to help. Could it be my master cylinder or even something else?
Thanks!
-Jeff

I'm sorry to hear your selling Her. I'd buy it, if you were closer. It's a hell of a deal even if you do nothing to the brakes. I saw the ad. The top is new Too? _________________ "Okay, so there's 6 beers and 5 of us. You know what this means don't you? 4 of you are going to have to leave."

Yeah, I hate to part with it, it's great at the local drive-in (in the summer). But, yes, the top is new. |

Did you bleed them?

Very nice price.
Hard time to sell toys. Every one wants to refinance or buy a house, houses are going cheep around here and a lot of toys are thus for sale. |

There are a few different things it could be. I had a similar problem with my '73. It may be a bad brake line. The way to check is to pull off the cap to the master cylinder. One at a time, open the bleeder valves and see if they drain. If not, the lining of that line has become swollen and spongy which occludes the flow of brake fluid to that wheel cylinder. Good luck. |

My 75 Beetle had a similar problem and it was a wheel cylinder. |
