Finnaly it arrived from WW
211953227BWW

Ok, It got here without the 2 brackets... Shocked
I called them and they told me they no longer sell it with the brackets... Confused

Coincidence???

He also told me to "Tape it" or use those plastic wire thingies to attach it to the bus... Rolling Eyes

Isn't it supposed to be grounded with the bracket/screw?

Besides me wondering if they no longer come/need the brackets...
I was also wondering if the instructions for wiring that it came with should be ignored and just follow the diagrams for 66-67...

They differ a bit... Confused

It's been a while since I did mine. I seem to remember a wire not matching the original color or something. Mine works well but I get constant feedback (clicking sound) unless I turn my headlights on or plug my cell phone charger in. Any ideas?

Anyone...

I need to know if I have to return the flasher because of the brackets, (not having them...not grounding... )

And if not, which instructions should I follow to wire it....

I don't think I even used any brackets when I installed mine...
I believe it is just hanging out back there.
Been there for over a year and haven't ever had any issues.

Isn't the black wire in the picture with the eye on it the ground-to-a-screw?

It is brown, and yes, it is aground, but I thought I read before in another post that it should also ground the box or something...

On the instructions it says that I could use the screw that attaches the relay bracket to the body...(for ground, but again...no brackets....)

So, what about which instructions should I follow...
The one that came with says that I should Not use the blue wire from the turn signal switch. But it may only aply to 68-69 and not my 66

The OG bracket won't work with the WW unit anyway. The bracket is a single screw that goes directly through the flasher. When I installed my WW unit, I just screwed the ground wire into the bracket and let the flasher rest back behind the panel.

68-69 turn switches do have 10 wires while your 66 only has 9 so you can ignore that part. Ground the brown wire with the eye terminal under any screw you can find. Early original VW relays did not have a separate ground wire and were only grounded through the mounting screw. Later VW added a ground wire to the relay. Follow the WW instructions.

Somebody here a while back wanted a copy of the WW instructions since they had lost them. Can you scan and post the instructions?

I actually had to call WW when I installed mine to get help on a couple of wires that weren't hooked up right.
They were great about helping me troubleshoot the issue.
We got it working over the phone in a couple of minutes.

I'm in the final stages of a total rewire for my 12v 66. It didn't have the 9 pin box, so I bought one. I went by the wiring works instructions and took the brown wire from the intrument harness and attached it to S- on the box. Do I need to run a jumper wire and ground it to the body as well?

Great job for WW to recreate the 12 Volt 9-pin flasher. Now, how about
going one better for those of us with our 6 volt systems and recreating
the 6-volt flasher box???

C'mon WW, you can do it!

I didn't need to on mine. If you are using the new reproduction WW blue box it worked fine without it.

Thanks Bob. Now I just have to wait for my headlight relay and then I can see how many mistakes I've made! Very Happy

Just fyi to those reading this whole thread. I think the blue box pic above is now replacing the OP's intended pic old WW relay pic. I think it was a jpeg image link to WW's site that updated when they changed their box. Just to avoid confusion.

Thanks for the clarification--I thought I was nuts when I couldn't see the wire referred to in the thread!

One other thing, does the new box (shown), not have a hole all the way through the unit as does the OG part? So the silver ring in the middle is not the same as that on the OG?
