I have a 62 bug. The pans have some surface rust but no holes. I want to put some por-15 on the pans and chassis both top and bottom. Do you think i should remove the body so i can get to more things or just leave the body on

You can do it either way, but you might as well do it 100% the first time!

Not worth the 2 extra years it will probably take to get it back on the road!

Those will work but you will have to srew 2x4's to the top of them to make them wider, or you can get the really cheap ones and a couple of 2x4's and make them, like I did

you can make them wide enough to roll your chasis underneath to save space.
oh, and if you are going to do it remove the body and do it right, if its not a daily driver, just my .02

If you have the time and the patience, i would say remove the body and take your time to make sure everything is done correctly. Doing a job once and correctly is better than doing it it several times half-a$$!

I've done tons of bugs.

OVERALL.. you'll save 10x the time it takes to unbody a bug.

Why?
You can flip it on it's side and not have to reach under (use a twin mattress)

Your body work quality will be better when you're not as tired

    You'll do better chasiss prep

You'll save hours on your new brake system

You'll save time pulling your tranny and engine

Here's my setup. 2x6s and straps, she's holding pretty solid up there. I've got to cut out and re-do the heater channels & firewall. Need to weld in support rods to support the body during the body minus heater channel stage.

Making sure you give yourself enough room to work, and don't over do it, and lift too high (into garage door).
