Hi All,
I am a total NEWBIE to the VW world. I am looking for the best links & contact information to create a VolksRod similar to the Rat Patrol VW.
I am looking to start a build project with my 14 year old. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I was researching for the build of my roadster I spent a good deal of time on volksrods.com.
The complete build of the Rat Patrol can be found there. Very informative site. Incredible help with ideas, concepts, other cars that've been done, and a few sketches of cars that haven't yet been built.
Rat Patrol was a big build due to the car being narrowed to match the roof, rather than the roof being widened to match the car during the chop. Truly amazing work.
Walt and the Volksrod.com guys are incredibly nice and easy to talk to/bounce ideas to as well. Great resource.
KCW's builds of the VolKCWrod and Death are very informative too - I did my front end at the same time Franz built Death, so I didn't get to see the concept/design until after mine was done, but his images go into depth with the design of the front end set-up. Also check the forums on kustomcoachwerks.com for those two builds - a lot of info/ideas/problems, etc. there.
Also SoCalLook.com and a few others. Google variations of "volksrod" if you don't get enough help at those sites. |
