I am trying to fit an original glove box door to my Thing. It is an original VW/Audi stamped door with lock and key, hinges and everyting. Very Happy My Thing is a military spec. 181 with no provision for that door. I wonder If someone with an original glove box door could take detailed pictures, (hinges, lock receptical etc.) of the door to help me install mine. Question
All help would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Easter

Dom Cool

Here some links to pictures of my glove box door.

Around here that description would be considered redundant.

dunno if he's still got the job, but if a mate hadn't seen him leaving the crime scene we'd never have known who it was! Rolling Eyes

Sorry to get off track. My door has a long piano hinge along the base--yours looks to have the same fitting that is on the other flaps. A fellow Thing owner made it. It took a lot of "finessing" to get it to fit. Right now it is being painted so I don't have it yet. You may need to remove your defroster tube to make up a catch for the lock. I just used a piece of sheet metal and screwed 2 screws into it. Good Luck.
