I noticed that there is used paper gasket between oil dipstick and tube installed under dipstick collar.
Any idea how to renew that gasket? I did not found any suitable paper ring among 25 hp engine gaskets.
Here under collar is placed the gasket.

I got a new 25 hp oil dipstick, thanks Andy!
Here you can see the original gasket, is it paper wire or some kind of paper ring?

looks almost like "water pump packing" something I've used on Model-A Fords from the 1920's, its sort of a thick graphite impregnated rope which you wrap around the water pump shaft then a cap is screwed down over the rope which holds the rope in contact with the shaft and theoretically keeps it from leaking water, this type of seal required frequent adjustment and replacement of the rope perodically, I would bet that this type of packing would work great for a dipstick seal and should still be available from antique vehicle parts suppliers, (sorry for the water cooled car content) _________________ There is an idea of a Billmetric; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me: only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply am not there... |

You can get the same stuff at the hardware store. It is used to seal composite water valves. Years ago it was called OKEM or OAKUM or something like that. A silicone O ring for 134 freon systems works well too for sealing dipsticks. _________________ Midwest Autosavers, Inc. Woodstock, IL |
