trailers for show cars. _________________ OGJHC

I'm starting to get little wafts of bus stink coming from the north. Something about the unique scent of drivers seat padding when it's glued together with mouse piss and shit that really gets me going... and I'm smelling it! Oh yeah! Time to start loading up the equipment. |

Where do I start.......
but my main two would be..... Fender Skirts (just screw up the look of a bug bug time) and those Wirrbulator things on the hood.... nothing like blue/red/green cheap plastic on a hood....
Also... those Aussie Sun Shades.... again.. they just screw up the clean lines. _________________ DB

In looking at "family" and historic pictures in some German VW books I have it seems to me the most common accessory added to Beetles in the late 40's and through the 50's were extra lights on the front and rear bumpers: fog or driving lights in the front, and brake lights and turn signals on the back. Also there seemed to be a lot of semaphores replaced with blinker lights in their place.
All the other accessories seem to pop up rarely if at all in pics from that era, although very few of the pics I saw are of interiors. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

For me it has to ski racks in an area with no snow or slopes. Now if you live in an area that you can use them, then it's cool. |
Same goes for surfboards! |

This picture might be of interest to you. Taken in Amsterdam in April of 1955
Zooming in on the beetle shows somebody was way ahead of his time and loaded it with some fine looking accessories

I must admit I like the idea of the shoe scraper on the running board. I'm always banging my shoe on the ground before getting in to knock off any dirt on the sole that I might bring into the beetle...a shoe scraper would make life easier. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

Oops
I guess it's the much sought-after ultrarare one year only Dutch market specific accessory. I actually have one of these in NOS condition. Let me know if you're interested.
