Kai ,
They are super rare, This is only the second set I have seen !
The other set is in a museum from a friend in Germany!
So how rare is this Fuel filter actually? (MAN and VW stamped)
I have seen the same filters on a early 356 (MAN stamped) but never on a VW !
I have bin told that they where used on early Okrasa engines???

I've been looking for the OE vert tonneau cover for a 71 and haven't been able to find it anywhere, no repros either. My car came with it originally and the car still has the fittings but missing the tonneau. One Samba member in UK has 59 model cover for sale, but I could not confirm the fit Sad

So, this must be a pretty rare factory accessory...

Hello, that fuel filter was used at Porsche industrial engines in 60's. One guy in Finland had last year eight Porsche industrial engines for sale simultaneously and the all had such a fuel filter.

I paid for mine 20€.

Hi all, I think this is pretty rare as having googled it and searched the entire forum I can't find another ?

The paperwork states that it is an 'overpressure' or 'stale air' valve accessory that fits Bug, Fastbacks and Variants.
It is basically a 1/2 moon vent for earleir Bugs that didn't benefit from through flow ventilation. The chrome circular discs fit on the outside if the Bug behind the side windows and the valve fits inside. It allows air to pass through the vehicle and I assume to escape when you slam the door too.

I have the original box and a letter date 1972 recommending the fiment of it to pre 1970 Bugs. It doesn't look t have ever been fitted to a car so assume is NOS too. I think it is an accessory sold in Finland in the late 60's and early 70's?

If anyone has anymoe info that would be great !! Darren

Availabillity of this valve system was reported to VW dealers at November 1969. The manfuacturer was Teijon Tehtaat (Teijo's Factories in English). It was called "air removal valve" and it was told to make the car warmer and to make the car more silent as one did not need to have vent window open when having the heater on to have maximum out ot the heating capacity. However it was underlined, that this valve will not make it possible to have clear windows in all conditions. Its accessory number was T 11 062 235.

At March 1970 was sent fitting instructions also for VW 1600. For Beetle you cannot put this set into earlier than 1965 year modell cars thet it would look good. I know that this valve system was still for sale at 1974.

This is not especially rare accessory when on a car in Finland and they are not so desired as one needs to make big holes to the body. But you have the first NOS kit I have seen so far.

Before this version there was available a single valve system using the same basic idea which become available at early 1960's. It is hidden under the rear window under interior material and it works well with pre 1965 cars. When installed well and right (which is not always the case), you cannot in practice see it if you do not know that the valve is in there.

Regards Timo
