I am going to paint my 78 bus soon, and have already chosen the lower color as orange. My question is, what is the correct color of white for the upper half? I saw somewhere it was pastel white, but my camper is that color, and it's more of an off white. Is there a factory regular white for the top half, or do i need to use something else? thanks alot.

Hi, I painted a 77 westy last summer, pastel white over brilliant orange. It's not a stock paint scheme for that year, but it does look really good. The orange is really bright, and the pastel white is very creamy, almost a very pale yellow. They really do look good together. Here's a link to a pic of the one I did, or search for beautiful orange bus in the gallery (I have a cheapo digital camera, so the colors are a bit screwy in some of the pics, but you can get the idea at least). Good luck, Jeremy

By the way, I was lazy with the bumpers, and the rims. I sprayed those with tremclad white paint from a spray can. I just didn't have the time in the paint booth to do them properly. The tremclad worked fine, and looked ok too, but later I found a creamy white that probably would have been better. Details, details, its all in the details! Jeremy |
