I'm thinking of blasting the green Maaco paint I had done in High School 10 years ago (plus the 2 layers underneath), and getting a real paint job.

If you could had to choose any color for a VW Thing (originality not being a concern), what would it be?

i like earth tones- desert tan, olive green. primary colours don't look good on things IMO... except yellow, for some reason.

Have thought about this myself, since I'm gonna blast and repaint mine soon too.

The Thing is a funky vehicle, and therefore it just begs to have a funky paintjob. I think orange is one of the colors that works best on a Thing. Seems to work very will with the black trim, etc.

Flat olive green would be best, just like military vehicles. No maintenance except a little spray paint here and there.

Yellow, bright shiny yellow, I guess my second choice would be yellow. Oh wait that is the same as my first choice......

I second yellow. I've seen a few cool colors on Things, but nothing but beats a bright canary yellow. Every time I think of a Thing, it's yellow.

Glossy interior, trunk and engine bay, glossy undercarriage but.... now don’t kill me… Shocked a semi flat kawasaki green outside body. Dare to be different.

Yes it must be that yellowish, bright frogy kawasaki green. Second I would go for a bright KTM orange, third for a bright canary yellow. Mine will be semi flat (gloss) light green.

Greetings Dominique Cool

"Absolute Jett Black" base coat on etch primer (after blast). Pearlescent mid-coat on black. Geometric shapes (squares, triangles, etc....varying sizes not to exceet 12" dia.) in vivid (read: LOUD) primary, secondary, and other? colours. Clear coat x 4 coats at 1 mil min. each pass.

I already have fallen in love with your coolest of Things. And I ain't even seen it, except behind my eyes Smile

Now that's greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen. May need some "electric" purple pinstripes or designs to finish it off, IMHO. Nice job, Dom.

Hope so it is all pre tuned carbs and ignition. But at the moment all these silly questions go through my mind, like: Did I do... will it run... did I do something wrong etc.

I keep you posted...
