My friend's car.

I am trying to install this oil bath air cleaner (from a 70 beetle) that has a 34PICT3 carb and it will not tighten up enough. I can't remember if there is supposed to be some sort of seal that is on the inside of the air cleaner or just how that is supposed to work.

I need a suggestion on what to use to take up a maybe 20 thousands of an inch on the inside of the oil bath.

I tried electrical tape around the carb this winter, but it pretty much turns to mush with the exposure to gas.

Suggestions? (stuff I might have would be a plus)

Almunium foil. Foil tape (I think it's called 100mph tape).
