Floor Pan size questions

I need to replace the floors in my 74 Thing.
I've often heard that they are the same size as the Ghia. True?
Can I use Ghia pans in it? Any differences if so?

The pans that they say are for the Ghia looks to be stamped from a Thing. The Ghia did not have the half circle stamping across the front on both sides and the replacement pans has indents in all the correct spots for the floor studs that hold the mats in.

So which is better to have? The Thing Shop has both sides for $425 w/ shipping. Are the Ghia pans thicker? Where can you buy those?

Thing pans are thicker. Ghia pans work just fine and you can find them cheaper

Checked out that site...Going to be just a couple bucks more for both sides, plus shipping to the east coast. Besides, says it's for Ghia, in which case they won't be as thick. Thanks for the site, though. Has alot of Thing parts. Nice to have a comparison!!!

They work just fine .002 thickness difference but to each their own. If your reall brave I know where there is a set of fiberglass pans for cheap

OK, I did it!! (' Laughing

') I finally bought the floor pans, Thanks Uncle Sam. I ended up going through TTS. I talk to my dad and he said it was a better idea to buy the Thing pans and not the Ghia pans-that the Ghia pans would need to be cut. I just wasn't keen on that idea, too much hassle. The bad news is that, as we are all feeling the fuel prices like thorns in our side, TTS can no longer have the free shipping. They do, however, pay half the shipping. Every little bit helps, mind you I'm in S Fla and TTS is in AZ-alot of dirt to cross! I also opted to get the rails now, since the shipping didn't increase with the extra weight.

Here is the breakdown...

Pans $212 ea
rails $110 ea
Shipping $30

Came out to $645.(' Rolling Eyes

') More than I planned, but I know that it'll fit and I got the rails so we can get it done quicker. Now just gotta break the news to hubby when he gets home.... Confused

Thats good that you were able to get TTS ones. I got the ghia ones from cip which I think are the standard ghia pans every one Carry's and they are a little ruff around the edges no seat rails, relief cuts, no holes drilled for the body bolts other than that they look like they fit well good luck. josh

you need to drill your own. The latest catalog ad's one's with the rails, but they said they didn't have enough manpower to have them already prep'd. That's cool, can drill holes, just didn't want to cut and fit, ya know......BTW, hubby is cool, pressure washing the yrs of grease/grime as we speak, just as psyched as I am Laughing

Kinda high on the seat rail price ouch.. Hope you remembered to get new pan seals for your new pan halves. If not I got em.
