Sears Tower Or Bust: My Algae-Powered Car Adventure
http://jalopnik.com/394479/sears-tower-or-bust-my-algae+powered-car-adventure
Nice writeup of a high-school project to make enough algae-based biofuel to get a Westy to the Sears tower and back.
(hopefully not a repost - I did search for "algae")

Here's a pretty good article about it. http://www.greenfuelsforecast.com/ArticleDetails.php?articleID=481
Instead of 18 gal/acre/year for corn ethanol (dumbest idea in the universe IMHO), they should be able to get about 20000+ gal/acre/year. |

Interesting article and neat story.
I had heard of algae fuel. Interesting to note there's a company here locally developing this technology.
In my mind (what's left of it ) I figured "growing up" would be the best use of space. (I mean really. Corn? In fields?) Seems that "growing up" could happen with algae growing systems.
If I had a DV, my only concern using algae fuel, would be if the mould on the pop top and the algae some how created a super strain of ? and would creep up on me, attacking me in my sleep.....
