great site you have here..i hope you can help me. i recently picked up a VW trike from a lady that passed away. i have no idea what engine it has. will the SN help to id it? if so..the number is AE95166..what exactly do i have here? year..cc size..etc.
i got it running today after replacing a bad fuel pump. this thing has'nt ran since 1999 or so and it sounds good..no smoke or strange sounds.. now here's a dumb question maybe..do these motors use a standard type oil filter? if so..i sure can't find it.
any help will be appreciated...

Well according to the engine number it's a 1971/1972 1600cc dual oil relief, dual port motor. Of course that doesn't mean the insides are still 1600.

The oil filter is a screen in the very bottom center of the motor. You'll see a large bolt in the middle. That's the drain plug. Around it are some smaller ones. Those hold the oil strainer in. Every time you do a oil change pull, clean and inspect the strainer.
