I think I FINALLY found a split window (or close enough) hood for my 51. Does this look like a split hood to you?

Looks like one to me. 3 tab emblem, reinforcement plate, 3 bolt hinges and small cross bracing and gusseting. _________________ John Henry

Yep looks split to me, same as the one I have that came off an early 51 standard model (only difference is the trim holes).
Regards

Nice Kevin, It looks like whoever did the packing for shipping did a great job. Patience paid off. _________________ " Southern Comfort Vintage Volks "

Nice one.
Need to find one myself, but as I'm currently in Australia it'll most likely mean posting one from overseas (VWs weren't sold here until '53).
Was yours posted? If so, was it much of a problem/cost? _________________ www.melburgluft.com |

Thanks guys. It only took 4 years for me to find a good one! |
I found one 2 weeks ago, I do not have pictures from it now !
The front hood is in a bad to remove the paint and the bondo !
It will be for sale in a few weeks , price depends on how long the body worker need to fix it without bondo !

I lucked out years ago and found one among a huge stack of front hoods. I found it at the Orangeburg Vintage Meet. I was putting on that show in 1994 and had a little time to zip through the swap meet but not until the late morning after it was picked through. No one noticed that it was a Split hood somehow and I picked it up for $25! Still have it. I didnt even own a Split at that time, but thought I may someday. _________________ Feb 1944 KdF Type 82e.

Early zwitters have also a 3-tab hood. _________________ 1950 Hebmuller #458
