On late model Westy`s, What is that switch looking thing below the glove box nob. It only has one wire going to it. looks like a warning light ???????? |

That is the infamous silver accessory socket.
In Europe, they sell all sorts of gadgets to plug into it, map lights etc. I believe here in the USA, you can find things to plug into it at the BMW motorcycle dealers.
You should find info on it at www.type2.com if you do a search on 'silver socket'.
I removed mine and put a cig lighter socket in its place.....more useful. |

I purchased my plug at a BMW cycle shop.It was and unwired plug that you could wire yourself. The guy there also told me that you can find them in John Deer tractor shops also. Dont know if that is true. I then went to Radio Shack and bought a three socket 12V plug and hard wired it to the European plug and I keep the whole thing in the glove box and plug my TV,MP3 player etc. into it. Works great! |
