I have several of those. What face and bezel do you want to put on?

I would be happy to sell one for only $1000.

If you want repros, both windup and battery powered, I got those too.

No magic here, move along.......

I have a battery powered one in my car because I don't like to wind them up. Plus if I forget to lock the glove box and it gets stolen, it is not a big deal.

Presents pretty well actually from the front, the face is likely repro (as the circular dots at each number should be raised/embossed not flat), and the hands look fairly correct but they are missing the embossed raised painted tips too, the bezel is a standard VDO replacement. The rear windup wheel knurling is not the same as og, and the back retainer bezel is not deep enough so I don't think it would even properly mount to a glovebox door.

I suspect the clock internals/mechanisms are from another non-VW car clock, I think it resembles some early Mercedes windup clocks I've seen or maybe it was Porsche. Overall pretty good work but my opinion is that it should be presented as a reproduction rather than restored, since I can't seem to identify what parts are actually original/correct. Perhaps the small knurled tubular fastening nuts on each of the threaded posts there are original. Price should be maybe range 1/3 to 1/2 less than posted, but again just my opinion.

Just an fyi of my favorite version split clock rarely seen, that mechanism would be alot more expensive to reproduce.

He should say "reproduction" not "restored" if it's that different from the original. At least he doesn't say NOS like some people do on repro parts. Nice looking clock...

The raised comes from the radium paint.

Later production.

BINGO!

Or "some other" make of car.

Again later production and also from "some other" make of car.

Any concerns?

My concern would be that it's not real since this person is reproducing other gauges, namely trip speedometers.

He does have good feedback but has had some issues with misrepresentation in the past.

That's why I posted the ad. I believe the word "restored" is not correct and should be removed. It is not a split clock and as such, is not restored.

I have asked him to clarify the ad and pointed him to this thread as well as forwarded the text of a report from a concerned Samba user.
